Arondies

Introducing...

BY Ian DanzigPublished Oct 1, 1999

Get Hip’s Archive Series continues to uncover some fine, yet long forgotten American ’60s pop music. Their latest release comes from the label’s home town of Pittsburgh where the Arondies were favourites at teen dances in the early ’60s. This is the real old school rock’n’roll in the tradition of Buddy Holly, taking occasional ventures into surf territory (surf instrumental “69” was their only hit), the obligatory Motown soul ballads when it was time to get close and lots of twangin’ garage. This classic document of the era includes a 12 page book with photos and press clippings from a band that did make their mark, however brief and regional the acclaim.
