Back in October, Aquakultre launched a GoFundMe campaign to fuel his dream of creating an open-access community studio in Halifax that would allow local artists to jam at any hours of the night or day.

Now, that dream is a reality — the rehearsal and recording space has opened off Herring Cove Road in Halifax, and will now act as a shared space for musicians who can't afford to pay for regular studio hours or don't want to disrupt neighbours or roommates with late-night jams or practice sessions.

In an interview with CBC, Aquakultre — a.k.a. Lance Sampson — shared how he gussied up the space with his partner, bringing in musical gear that includes a mixing board, keyboard and drum kits. People are also welcome to bring in their own equipment, with Sampson telling CBC:

It's resource sharing. Like grab what you need, use what you can. If you're coming into the space, just bring whatever you have. If you want to leave it here, then you're basically allowing other folks to use it as well and just share each others' resources.

You can read more about the space here. Aquakultre released his latest album Don't Trip earlier this year.
