Apocalypse Hoboken

Microstars

Expanding the boundaries of their Rocket From the Crypt-style rockin' punk, Apocalypse Hoboken come up with something somewhat outside of the punk rock cookie-cutter. You get the feeling they're trying to confuse people with a record that goes from one extreme to the next. From the Guns'n'Roses-influenced "Lonely Socks" to old-style hardcore with a twist on "Pocketful of Lips," to a cover of Prince's "Darling Nikki" and the Jane's Addiction-esque "Young Robot Monkey Lion Tamer," this is a pretty cool mix. With 14 songs in all, this is one record that stands out from the rest of the pack.
