Andy Kim Announces 11th Annual Charity Christmas Concert

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Oct 23, 2015

It's been a memorable year for Canadian pop-rock veteran Andy Kim, thanks in no short part to his recent It's Decided with Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew. It'll be business as usual come Christmastime, though, as Kim has revealed he'll be hosting his annual charity concert.

The 11th annual "Andy Kim Christmas Show" takes place December 9 at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre and will bring the singer and some of his friends onstage to raise money for charity. They hope the show can raise $100,000 for the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health via its Gifts of Light Program.

UPDATE (11/19, 4:50 p.m.): The lineup has been announced, and it includes the following artists: Andy Kim, Tom Cochrane, Barenaked Ladies, Michael and Margo Timmins (Cowboy Junkies), the Trews, Ron Sexsmith, Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning (Broken Social Scene), Beaches, Honeymoon Suite, Kardinal Offishall, Finger Eleven, Tom Wilson and Tomi Swick.

"I'm excited to start the 2nd decade of my Andy Kim Christmas Event knowing that CAMH Foundation's Gifts of Light Program is once again with us," Kim said in a statement.

He added: "I spent a couple hours visiting the facility, getting a full understanding of their Patient Care Programs. Through Gifts of Light we will be able to provide thoughtful gifts & a meaningful experience during this Holiday Season. I get the feeling some of these patients are often forgotten and I believe we can make a difference."

While details on the list of special guests making an appearance this year has yet to be revealed, the event has previously brought out members of Rush, the Tragically Hip, Broken Social Scene and Barenaked Ladies, while also featuring walk-ons from K-os, Dan Hill, Serena Ryder, Ron Sexsmith, and Kardinal Offishall.

We're going to make an educated guess and suggest that, considering the release of It's Decided, members of Broken Social Scene just may make it out to the event this year.
