All Your Ears Can Hear

History

In a move that should be considered mandatory for every music community, a bunch of punks from Victoria, BC have put together a comprehensive guide to the city’s underground music scene from 1978 to 1984. Consisting of two CDs of music and almost 100 pages of band bios, gig posters, and rare photos, this is essential for any residents of BC and, at the very least, highly recommended for the rest of the country. Utterly comprehensive, coverage here ranges from the known (NoMeansNo, Dayglo Abortions) to those barely known even at the time (the Ascensions). Each band’s history is briefly detailed, and the source of their tracks is given. The layout is fantastic and the music is made all the better by the context, which succeeds in being interesting without delving into unnecessary detail.
