Air

Cartier short film score

BY Philip James de VriesPublished Nov 9, 2011

As previously reported, French electronic duo Air were commissioned to score a short film for renowned French designer Cartier. Of course, with commercialized commissions comes the delicate dichotomy of business vs. art, but the short film and music are surprisingly Cartier-free.

The film depicts a struggling painter who flirts with his own painted creation, following his own romanticism through Manhattan and eventually succumbing to transduction and becoming a part of his own work.

Air's sounds and electronic textures perfectly complement the moods of the short film, and exhibit their ability to create music with specific purposes in mind.

The film debuts today (November 9) and is available to stream over at Cartier's Facebook page. Check it out for yourself.
