Aimee Mann

"I'm Cured" (starring Dave Foley and David Wain) (video)

Aimee Mann's new song "I'm Cured" is about loss and heartbreak, but it's not quite like any sad-sack acoustic ballad we've heard before.

What's so strange about this quiet folk number? Well, it's sung from the perspective of a common cold — yes, the illness — after it is wiped out by a scientific cure. The video stars David Wain and Kids in the Hall's Dave Foley, along with Mann, and it portrays the scientific breakthrough in question.

You can watch the Alan Tanner-directed video, a co-production of Rob Kutner, the Levinson Brothers and My Damn Channel, below.

This song will appear on the upcoming comedy-music album 2776: A Millennium of American Asskickery, due out on July 4 via the minds of Kutner and the Levinson Brothers. Proceeds go to benefit OneKid OneWorld, which aims to build schools in Kenya and El Salvador.

Other contributors to the project include Will Forte, Ed Helms, Yo La Tengo, Andrew W.K., Robert Smigel, Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog, Martha Plimpton, Ira Glass, Eugene Mirman, and Paul F. Tompkins.
