Following search efforts over the last several days, After The Burial guitarist Justin Lowe has been found dead. Though the full details surrounding his death are still unclear, it's been reported that his body was found by a hiker last night (June 21) in Somerset, WI. He was 32 years old.
Lambgoat reports that Lowe's body was discovered near the Arcola High Bridge in Somerset. It's unclear how Lowe arrived there, as his car was discovered in a Washington County, MN parking lot. Authorities have said that his death is consistent with a fall.
Last Saturday (July 18), Lowe's sister went online to explain that the guitarist had gone missing. They had found the car at the time, but were still unaware of her brother's whereabouts. The Washington County Sheriff's Office and Park Rangers had searched along the St. Croix river, which borders Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Lowe's disappearance came shortly after he posted an extensive and troubling message on Facebook. Though his Facebook page has since been deleted, it alluded to his band members conspiring against him. In the post, he claimed that his "personal data was being or going to be compromised," added that he feared physical harm at the hands of the band and its management, alluded to a friend's suicide potentially being a murder, and weighed-in on sexual abuse and therapy.
After The Burial put up a response on Facebook the following day (June 25), which noted their concern for his well-being. They wrote that he had also gone missing the day he posted the message, and that their bandmate was dealing with mental health issues.
They wrote: "Justin is ill, and right now he needs more than ever to be shown that the world is not against him. He needs support and love from everyone, and to know that we only want what's best for him. We will continue to support him and his family as best we can through this tough time."
After the Burial have not yet made a statement about Lowe's death.
Lowe was a founding member of After The Burial and released four full-lengths with the group, the last of which being 2013's Wolves Within. His message explained that a new album is in the works, though its status is now unclear.
