Academy Killer

"Burnin' Baby" (video)

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Hamilton pop-punk unit Academy Killer are offering up "the happiest sounding song about heartbreak and sorrow you've ever heard."

Their new single "Burnin' Baby" hears the band blending hooky guitar riffs, melodic vocals and peppy percussion into a song that sounds deceptively happy upon first listen. Beneath the sunshine-y surface, though, the tune is actually an ode to unrequited love.

That sentiment gets captured to film in the new accompanying music video, which finds frontman Kevin Talbot wandering snow-covered fields and train tracks by his lonesome — when he's not seeking shelter and rocking out with his bandmates.

Academy Killer will play Canadian Music Week this April. First, though, get a look at the video premiere for "Burnin' Baby" below.
