Abandon All Ships Call It Quits

Toronto metalcore unit Abandon All Ships have apparently, well, jumped ship, having just announced they're ending the band after an eight-year run.

A press release delivered today (August 15) explains that the "saga is coming to an end" this fall. There apparently wasn't any drama leading up to the decision, with vocalist Angelo Aita explaining that the band had just run its natural course.

"After many ups and downs, good times and bad, it's time that Abandon All Ships comes to an end," he said in a statement, thanking fans, friends and family for their support over the years. "There's no hard feelings or inner turmoil, it's just time that we all move on to the next chapter of our lives."

Over the years, Abandon All Ships managed to issue three full-length albums, produced a handful of music videos, undertook several tours and starred in the MuchMusic reality show Disband between 2008 and 2009. Their last LP, Malocchio, was released last February. You'll find the video for its "Trapped," a song pitting brutal moshcore beats and screams alongside house-pop synths and sung hooks, down below

Fans will get the chance to check out the band one final time on September 25 at Toronto's Virgin Mobile Mod Club, with pals Liferuiner, Partycat, Aspire and Conversation acting as support.
