After the news broke that Sony Pictures was moving ahead with Bad Boys for Life, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have now confirmed their involvement in the project.

Today, the co-stars announced that they will reprise their roles as detectives Mike Lowry and Marcus Burnett, delivering the message from the beach in Santa Monica.

"It's official, Bad Boys 3 is happening, it's official," Smith yells while shaking Lawrence's hand. You can find posts from the pair below.

Deadline notes that production on Bad Boys for Life will begin in mid-January of next year, with directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah helming the project.

Jerry Bruckheimer is returning to produce the project, having held the position with the franchise's first two films.

Bad Boys for Life is slated to open in theatres January 17, 2020.
