The Expanse is heading into its sixth and final season later this year, and now the sci-fi series has an official trailer to prove it. Set to premiere on Prime Video on December 10, with new episodes airing every Friday, The Expanse's last chapter is looking to be just as action-packed as ever.
The clip sees the return of series favourites, including Shohreh Aghdashloo as Chrisjen Avasarala, Steven Strait as James Holden, Wes Chatham as Amos, Dominique Tipper as Naomi, Keon Alexander as Inaros, Cara Gee as Camina Drummer, Frankie Adams as Bobbie Draper, Jasai Chase Owens as Filip and Nadine Nicole as Clarissa Mao, among others.
Notably (spoilers), Cas Anvar's Alex Kamal is not present in the trailer, following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct levelled against the Canadian actor in 2020, as well as his character's death in Season 5.

The sixth and final season of The Expanse picks up with the solar system at war, as Marco Inaros and his Free Navy continue to launch devastating asteroid attacks on Earth and Mars. As the tensions of war and shared loss threaten to pull the crew of the Rocinante apart, Chrisjen Avasarala makes a bold move and sends former Martian Marine Bobbie Draper on a secret mission that could turn the tide. Meanwhile in the Belt, Drummer and what's left of her family are on the run and hunted for betraying Marco. And on a distant planet beyond the Rings, a new power begins to rise.
James S.A. Corey — a.k.a. Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck — whose books the series is based on, is due to release the ninth and final book in the series in November.
Season 6 of The Expanse will likely follow the events of Corey's Book 6, though the Amazon adaptation deal concludes with the latest season. So far, showrunner Naren Shankar has not revealed if he plans to continue the series elsewhere.
