Sad news for fans of Nick Park's classic claymation duo Wallace & Gromit — Peter Sallis, voice of Wallace, has passed away. Sallis died on Friday (June 2) at the age of 96.
The actor's agents Jonathan Altaras Associates released the following statement:
It is with sadness that we announce that our client Peter Sallis died peacefully, with his family by his side, at Denville Hall on Friday, June 2.
In addition to voicing Wallace, Peter Sallis also appeared in all 295 episodes of the long-running sitcom Last of the Summer Wine, which aired from 1973 to 2010.
Sallis most recently voiced Wallace in the 2008 short A Matter of Loaf and Death.
