Summer's here, but thanks to Netflix there's no reason for you to head outside and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. The streaming service has just unveiled its programming for July, and there's something to keep even the biggest beach bums planted on the couch and glued to the screen.

New original comedy series Friends from College stars Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders and Annie Parisse as part of a gang of Harvard grads approaching their 40s and reflecting on their successes — or lack thereof. The full first season debuts on July 14.

Other original series hitting Netflix this month include the complete first season of Castlevania (July 7), bi-weekly episodes of Season 2 Part B of Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments (starting July 11) and the complete first season of Ozark (July 21).

A couple of Netflix original films are also hitting the service next month. The Lily Collins and Keanu Reeves-starring To the Bone arrives on July 14, while the Lakeith Stanfield, Chris O'Dowd and Noël Wells-starring The Incredible Jessica James arrives on July 28.

Original comedy programming coming to Netflix in July includes Season 1 of The Standups (July 4), Aditi Mittal: Things They Wouldn't Let Me Say (July 18), Ari Shaffir: Double Negative – Collection (July 18), Joe Mande's Award-Winning Comedy Special (July 25), while original documentary content includes Chasing Coral (July 14), Season 2 of Last Chance U (July 21) and Season 1 of Daughters of Destiny (July 28).

Chelsea Handler's Netflix-exclusive talk show Chelsea will continue to deliver new weekly episodes every Friday, and upcoming guests include Russell Wilson, Laila Ali, Kurt Warner, Aly Raisman, Lindsey Vonn, Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne, Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett and Tommy Vietor.

For younger audiences, original kids programming will be coming via Season 4 of Dawn of the Croods (July 7), Season 2 of Luna Petunia (July 7), Buddy Thunderstruck: The Maybe Pile (July 14), Season 1 of The Worst Witch (July 21) and Season 5 of The Adventures of Puss in Boots (July 28).

There are also plenty of other television titles hitting the streaming service next month, including seasons of Danny Dyer's Deadliest Men (July 1), Dark Matter (July 1), Offspring (July 1), Mike Tyson Mysteries (July 3), Olympus (July 3) and West Coast Customs (July 15) and Killer Women with Piers Morgan (July 19).

If movies are more your thing, there are hours of new (or at least new to Netflix) viewing coming your way. Some recent highlights to watch for are Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (July 18), Arrival (July 28), Hacksaw Ridge (July 1), Snowden (July 1) and Toni Erdmann (July 26), while there are also tons of old favourites like Snatch (July 1), American Pie (July 6), Ghost (July 6), The Blues Brothers (July 13) and Braveheart (July 27).

Musically minded folks should also be sure to check out Oasis: Supersonic and The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, which both arrive on July 1.

Other titles coming to a screen near you include Albion: The Enchanted Stallion (July 1), Batman: Bad Blood (July 1), Draft Day (July 1), Given (July 1), Keep Quiet (July 1), Keeping Up with the Joneses (July 1), Last Vegas (July 1), Legends of the Fall (July 1), Let's Be Cops (July 1), Out of Thin Air (July 1), Raising Arizona (July 1), Southside with You (July 1), The Riot Club (July 1), The Wedding Pact (July 1), Welcome to Me (July 1), X-Men: Days of Future Past (July 1), Miss Julie (July 2), Eloise (July 2), It's Complicated (July 6), Julieta (July 6), Pixels (July 11), Friends with Benefits (July 12), Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (July 14), Cowgirl's Story (July 17), Bruce Almighty (July 20), The Talented Mr. Ripley (July 20), Detour (July 24), Vincent N Roxxy (July 25), The Social Network (July 26), and After the Reality (July 31).

And, of course, with the arrival of so many new titles, there are also a handful that will be leaving the service. Be sure to catch Marvel's Iron Man, Paper Towns, She's Funny That Way and Step Up (all three of them) before they leave on July 1. Disney's Tomorrowland leaves on July 6, Cocaine Cowboys Reloaded leaves on July 7, Focus leaves on July 10, Sleeping with Other People leaves on July 22 and Inside Out leaves on July 26.
