Dieter Laser, the actor known as the star of the horror film The Human Centipede, has passed away. He was 78.

Laser was born in Germany and appeared in many German-language films. He crossed over onto English-language screeners with roles in the sci-fi series Lexx and the John Malkovich movie The Ogre.
Laser is best-known for playing Dr. Josef Heiter in 2009's The Human Centipede (First Sequence), in which he took the role of the evil doctor who created the titular human centipede. He returned in a new role for 2015's The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence).
