Tom Wilkinson, the British actor known for his role in The Full Monty, has died at the age of 75.

He died at home. In a statement, his family said, "It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Wilkinson announce that he died suddenly at home on 30 December. His wife and family were with him. The family asks for privacy at this time."

Wilkinson played Gerald Cooper in The Full Monty, winning a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 1997 comedy film. He reprised the role for an eight-episode sequel series, also called The Full Monty, which came out earlier this year on Disney+.

Wilkinson earned two Oscar nominations: Best Actor for In the Bedroom (2001) and Best Supporting Actor for Michael Clayton (2007). He also appeared in films like Sense and Sensibility (1995), Shakespeare in Love (1998), Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), Batman Begins (2005), The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011) and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014).

Wilkinson married actor Diana Hardcastle in 1988. They had two children together.
