Sarah Snook has joined the chorus of voices in the creative community condemning the use of AI in film.

Just days after Nicolas Cage called the controversial tech "inhumane," the Succession star asserted her belief that there needs to be regulations on AI to protect actors.

Snook was asked about her thoughts on the ongoing Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike in an interview with the BBC when she broached the topic: "The main thing for me, really, that I find terrifying is the AI," she said.

Snook continued, "It's just such uncharted landscape and we need pretty stringent rules in place in order to protect, not just the acting industry, but across the board. If we can set a precedent for other industries in regards to how AI is utilized, then that'll be huge."

She referenced the disturbingly realistic deepfake version of Tom Cruise as a source of her fears regarding AI.

"It's uncanny," she said. "So imagine then having a company who owns your image, owns your voice, creating whatever [they want] — propaganda at the worst. There's no words to describe how important this is right now to attend to."

The SAG-AFTRA strike is currently nearing its final stages as the guild reviews a last offer from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers
