He's starred in videogames, comic books and cartoons, but the 25-year-old character Sonic the Hedgehog has not used his characteristic speed to rush into theatres. Fortunately, that's slowly being rectified as a Sonic movie is now officially on the way.
Back in 2014, the film was officially announced to be in production for Sony Pictures and Marza Animation Planet. Now, we've learned that it'll finally arrive in 2018.
In a new interview with Wordfolio [via Coming Soon], Sega CEO Hajime Satomi explained that the film is on the way and, as previously thought, a hybrid of live-action and CGI.
"Sega Sammy Group is currently planning with Sony Pictures to create a live-action and animation hybrid 'Sonic the Hedgehog' movie scheduled for release in 2018," he said. "Like with this CG animation production, we would like to expand our business into other entertainment areas beyond what we are currently involved."
Here's hoping the film's producers draw on the DeviantArt community for some adult-themed erotic inspiration.
