Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner Could Be Voicing Timon and Pumbaa in 'Lion King' Remake
Published Apr 26, 2017Jon Favreau recently unveiled plans for an upcoming live-action remake of Disney's animated 1994 classic, The Lion King, and the feature film now has a couple more big names in talks to join its cast.
Funny dudes Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner are reportedly negotiating roles as beloved misfit duo Timon and Pumbaa; Rogen is up for the role of the stinky but lovable warthog, Pumbaa, while Eichner is in talks to play his sarcastic meerkat pal, Timon.
Rogen has previously showed off his voice acting skills in films like Kung Fu Panda, Monsters vs. Aliens and the totally less kid-friendly Sausage Party. Eichner, meanwhile, is best known for his hilariously aggressive interview game show Billy on the Street and Difficult People, as well as appeared on shows like Parks and Recreation and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
If confirmed to the cast, Rogen and Eichner will be joining Donald Glover (who will voice Simba) and James Earl Jones (reprising his role as the voice of Mufasa). As previously reported, Favreau is vying for Beyoncé to voice leading lioness, Nala, though the singer hasn't confirmed any involvement with the project at this point.
The Lion King will mark the latest in a series of Disney live-action updates, following the likes of Alice in Wonderland (2010), Maleficent (2014), Cinderella (2015), The Jungle Book (2016) and Beauty and the Beast, which was just released last month.
