The trend kicked off thanks to actor/comedian/writer Guy Kelly, a.k.a brainimage, who prompted his followers to try their hand at some Shrek art.
"It looks like Shrek discourse is happening, so it's time for my favourite thing: DRAW SHREK FROM MEMORY. Can draw? Good! Can't draw? EVEN BETTER!!" Kelly wrote in a tweet. "Don't you DARE look at a Shrek beforehand. Draw him! Post him! Cram the picture with half-remembered details!"
The responses have been unsurprisingly hilarious, with images ranging from truly horrifying recreations to absolute works of art.
