Netflix Cancels 'One Day at a Time' After Third Season

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 14, 2019

Netflix has announced that One Day at a Time will not be returning to the streaming service for a fourth season.

The show returned to the screen in 2017 as a reboot of Norman Lear's original show of the same name, which ran from 1974 to 1985.

The Netflix version was developed by showrunners Gloria Calderon Kellett and Mike Royce, and starred Justina Machado, Todd Grinnell, Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rita Moreno.

According to a statement from Netflix, the decision to cancel the show "did not come easily," but it claims that "simply not enough people watched to justify another season."
