Netflix Canada Announces Another Subscription Price Hike

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Nov 29, 2018

There are plenty of titles coming to Netflix Canada, but you're going to have to pay more to see them.

The streaming service has announced new subscription rates that will see the price for the standard plan featuring two-screens-at-once services rise three dollars to $13.99 a month.

The basic plan, which allows only one screen at a time and does not offer high definition, will rise one dollar to $9.99 a month.

A premium plan is also available and will jump three dollars to $16.99 a month, offering subscribers up to four simultaneous streams and 4K video.

The increased prices are effective immediately to new subscribers, while existing customers will receive notices about the price hikes in the coming weeks.

Netflix previously raised prices for Canadian users last August.

The price changes come in the wake of growing competition in Canadian markets; Crave TV now offers a premium package with films and HBO programming, while Disney is expected to launch its own streaming service next year.
