The year has come and gone, and we have arrived once again at December, our toes numbed and our eyes desensitized to more than a couple hours' worth of sunlight per day. If you're like most house potatoes are around this time of year, your peepers have instead likely grown accustomed to the lights emanating from varying screen sizes — and maybe you're looking for new shapes and light patterns to shine into them.
This month, Netflix undulating catalogue of viewables warms things up dark and early with two green-man favourites, with Shrek and How the Grinch Stole Christmas both arriving on December 1. The first of the month will also bring May December, a Natalie Portman-starring Netflix original about a lady pedo. Not your thing? The Craft is also coming on December 1.
Streamin' hot off the royalist propaganda drip is The Crown Season 6 Part 2, arriving on December 14, a day that will also bring about As the Crow Flies. Maestro, complete with Bradley Cooper's maybe-offensive prosthetic nose, arrives December 20.
Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke team up for Leave the World Behind, which arrives December 8, while another likely pairing of Chris Rock and Kevin Hart will debut their Headliners Only special on December 12. That day will also bring the very talked-about Talk to Me, a diamond in the rough amid this month's offerings.
I spoke too soon! Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 1 and 2 are coming December 19. Is Netflix vying for a Hayu partnership? Who's to say?
Heading to the 'flix graveyard is the Kath and Kim cinematic universe — say g'day to your Aussie faves on December 27.
Check out all the Yuletide offerings below and cross-reference with the other trash hitting Prime Video, Disney+ and Paramount+ here.
