HBO Boss Tells 'Games of Thrones' Fans They're Not Getting a Season 8 Remake

But they are getting a prequel series

HBO's chief of programming has confirmed the network has no plans to redo the final season of Game of Thrones.

Some particularly enthusiastic fans have been petitioning HBO to remake Season 8 of the show because they weren't happy with it. Unfortunately for them, HBO's Casey Bloys has informed them that's not how multimillion dollar TV productions work.

According to the Associated Press, Bloys acknowledged that strong opinions from fans can be one of the few drawbacks to having such a wildly popular show.

He addressed said opinions during a TV critics meeting but remained firm that there was no serious consideration to remake the final season of Game of Thrones.

Despite fans' disappointment with the conclusion of the series, the show was nominated for a record 32 Emmys last week. It also brought in more viewers than any other HBO program.

Fans still have some new Game of Thrones content to look forward to, though. A prequel is in the works, which stars Naomi Watts and is set 1,000 years before the original series starts.

Bloys confirmed the first episode has finished filming in Ireland and said it was looking "really good."
