GLOW has just become the latest Netflix series to get cancelled.
The streamer made the announcement today, revealing the show — which stars Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin and Marc Maron — will not be becoming back for its fourth and final season. Like so many other things in life, it's been cancelled because of COVID-19.
"COVID has killed actual humans. It's a national tragedy and should be our focus. COVID also apparently took down our show. Netflix has decided not to finish filming the final season of GLOW," series creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch said in a statement to Deadline. "We were handed the creative freedom to make a complicated comedy about women and tell their stories. And wrestle. And now that's gone. There's a lot of shitty things happening in the world that are much bigger than this right now. But it still sucks that we don't get to see these 15 women in a frame together again."
The pair added: "We'll miss our cast of weirdo clowns and our heroic crew. It was the best job," before signing off with "Register to vote. And please vote."
The announcement comes after GLOW had already started production on Season 4. It was about three weeks into filming the new season when production was suspended in March due to the pandemic.
GLOW wasn't the only show to get cancelled by Netflix today either, as the streaming hub cut loose Teenage Bounty Hunters after just one season.
