HBO has confirmed the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will premiere on April 14.
The specific airdate was revealed in a new promo before last night's (January 13) episode of True Detective.
The new teaser trailer sees Jon Snow, Sansa Stark and Arya Stark in the crypts of Winterfell, but after paying homage to figures from the past, they encounter their own statues and a sinister fog creeps in — which can't be a good omen.

In other GoT news, the series will also be getting a new prequel series starring Naomi Watts. The pilot for that project is being written by Jane Goldman, but an official release date has not yet been announced.
