Additional security personnel have been repeatedly and forcefully thrust into action on the set of the latest in the Magic Mike film franchise, as a "legion of horny middle-aged women" have reportedly disrupted filming.
Following a leak of confidential Magic Mike's Last Dance production information in a WhatsApp group of stripper superfans, a flock of obsessives descended upon a London set in hopes to catch a glimpse of their salivating faces reflected in the oiled-up abs of Channing Tatum and co.
"It starts as a bit of fun, and it's great that the fans are so engaged. They're just passionate — and plainly sex-starved!" a source close to the production told The Sun. "But after a while it has become problematic and there are now a lot of fans trying to get hold of the guys pretty much everywhere they go."
They added: "The security team are concerned about what they might be prepared to do just to get their hands on them."
Well, they're probably just eager to tuck a nice dollar into the dancers' waistbands.
"Obviously the previous films have had a huge impact," the source continued, "but also left this legion of horny middle-aged women, who are making it their business to know the guys' every move and follow them all over the place."
While they're clearly painting the XXL-sized fans as unhinged housewives, who's to say how disruptive their presence has actually been — or how intrusive they've gotten with the actors? It all smells a little slut-shamey (and sweaty).
Anyway, Warner Brothers took matters into their hands as swiftly as the film's stars made moves to undress.
"Sadly the only option has been to move things around and take security precautions by bringing in some proper heavies to make sure nobody gets hurt," the source told the publication of the additional security measures the team was taking and their attempts to throw the fans off with scheduling changes.
Magic Mike's Last Dance is the third film in the series, following the 2012 original and 2015's Magic Mike XXL sequel. While a release date has yet to be announced, the Steven Soderbergh-directed feature is forthcoming via HBO Max (and Crave here in Canada, with any luck).
It sounds like production on Last Dance hasn't come grinding to a halt or anything — a gaggle of gals have just gotten a special private show before the full package of magic comes to the screen.
