Disney+ Will Stream 'The Rise of Skywalker' Early

May the 4th be with you

Whether you hated it or have built your entire life around defending it, there's no denying that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is a movie that exists. And it will enter the realm of streaming some two months earlier than previously expected.

Disney+ has decided to drop the film on us early, probably in part because of the social isolation required from the COVID-19 pandemic but also because the company wants to release the movie on May 4 — the day when Star Wars will trend all day because smart alecks will be saying "May the 4th be with you."

Although we called the film "curiously joyless," you may find some joy as you hit play and watch that iconic Star Wars scroll one more time from the comfort of your home.
