Quebecois director Denis Villeneuve impressed with his last film Enemy, and he's now announced release plans for its follow-up, Sicario.
The film will make its premiere in competition for the Palme d'Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival next month. The fest runs from May 13 to 24. Villeneuve is the only Canadian in the competition.
From there, Sicario will open in theatres across Canada on September 25.
Sicario stars Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin and Emily Blunt as a trio tasked with taking down a Mexican cartel boss. The film was written by Taylor Sheridan. The film also features a score from renowned neoclassical performer Jóhann Jóhannsson.
