David Gordon Green has directed Criterion-approved art house films, broader Danny McBride comedy series and acclaimed dramedies, but he's now enjoying his third or fourth rebirth as a filmmaker by becoming a go-to horror helmer. He's already got two sequels to his 2018 Halloween reboot in the works as well as a Hellraiser series, and now he's eyeing a possible Exorcist sequel.
According to reports from Observer and Indiewire, Green is "in talks" to direct the film, which will be produced with Blumhouse. This project is expected to arrive after Green finishes Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.
It's not clear exactly how far along the project is, but William Friedkin, who directed the original, has already denied any and all involvement:
For now, Halloween Kills is expected to arrive on October 15, 2021, while Halloween Ends is scheduled to be released on October 14, 2022.

There's a rumor on IMDB that I'm involved with a new version

Of The Exorcist. This isn't a rumor, it's a flat-out lie.
There's not enough money or motivation in the world
To get me to do this.
