Despite its promise to bring Keanu Reeves, Grimes and Refused together in the world of video games, the highly anticipated new open-world game Cyberpunk 2077 continues to be delayed. Assuming it will actually come out one day, however, we've already got news of a new spinoff anime series.
Developer CD PROJEKT RED has teamed up with Netflix to prep a new anime series called Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The show takes place in the same world as the game, although it's a separate story.
Here's the official tagline:
CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.
The series is being directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) and is expected to launch in 2022. Watch an announcement trailer for the show below.
As for Cyberpunk 2077, the game was delayed for a second time and now has an expected release date of November 19.
