Director Kyle Newman has had a fascinating career so far, helming both the Star Wars-themed Fanboys and Lana Del Rey's "Summertime Sadness" video. Up next, he's directing True Grit's Hailee Steinfeld in a new high school spy comedy.
As the new trailer suggests, this looks like a cross between Spy Kids and Veronica Mars, with co-stars Samuel L. Jackson and Jessica Alba cracking some groan-worthy jokes. There's even a crack about how the city name Regina rhymes with "vagina" and a cameo from Jackass jackass Steve-O.
In all honesty, it looks pretty awful. But it's being distributed by A24, the same company that brought us Spring Breakers, Enemy, Under the Skin, Ex Machina and many others. So maybe it'll secretly be better than we could ever imagine?
