Anne with and E has been cancelled after three seasons.
Creator and showrunner Moira Walley-Beckett addressed "the end of the Green Gables road" in an Instagram post yesterday (November 25).
"My heart is heavy, but I am so proud of this show," she wrote. "I am grateful and humbled by this experience, and I truly feel blessed to have had the opportunity to share this beautiful, meaningful story with all of you, my kindred spirits. I know you have loved this series as much as I have, and I thank you for that forever and a day."
The show, a modern retelling of Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic Anne of Green Gables book, was a Canadian co-production between CBC and Netflix.
It was shot at locations in Prince Edward Island and Ontario, and starred Irish-Canadian actress Amybeth McNulty as the title character.
The third season finished airing on CBC this past Sunday (November 24), and it is scheduled to arrive on Netflix on January 3.
