The Safdie Brothers — masterminds behind the Sandman-starring Uncut Gems and Batman-starring Good Time — and their Elara Pictures production company have teamed with Rick Rubin and Chuck Braverman to executive produce a documentary about the late legendary comedian Andy Kaufman, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The feature-length doc will be directed by Alex Braverman and produced by Morgan Neville, who directed Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain. The film — which has gained exclusive rights to Kaufman's key films, early work and never-before-seen footage — has already begun production.

"No matter how many times I watch Andy Kaufman's work, I feel like I'm seeing a magic trick for the very first time. I'm excited for our project to honour that. This is the film I've wanted to make my entire life," Braverman said in a statement.

Neville added: "Alex is an exciting director who has a vital take on the story, the Safdie Brothers are true originals just like Kaufman himself, and Chuck Braverman and [Jenifer Westphal's] Wavelength are incredible collaborators and champions for this film's unique vision."

So far, no word on a release date, interviewees or much else. Stay tuned for more details.
