Comic Megan Pettit Takes over Exclaim! Comedy for Junos

BY James KeastPublished Apr 1, 2016

To celebrate the Juno Awards on Sunday, comedian Megan Pettit is taking over the Exclaim! comedy Twitter account (@exclaimcomedy) for the duration of the show!

Megan Pettit (@meganshpettit) is no stranger to the twitterverse — her tweets have been featured on Funny or Die and The Chive, while Huffington Post named her one of the 20 women people should follow on twitter. For Sunday night, you'll find her on the @exclaimcomedy account!

"The halftime commercials" is what she's most excited about for this year's Junos. Unfortunately, she won't benefit from the 2016 Juno Awards like she has in the past, when her husband, George Pettit, played the awards with his band Alexisonfire. "He came home with a gift bag filled with expensive creams and candles," she enthuses.

Pettit expects that the Junos could be informative for many Canadian music fans. For example, we could learn "that Hedley and Marianas Trench are two completely different bands. Who knew?" We're not much for controversy in our awards shows — what would a Canadian wardrobe malfunction even look like? "The Weeknd performing with a perfectly reasonable haircut," Pettit quips.

Tune in to the Junos Sunday night to see if they pull off a coup of Canadiana — "The Kids in the Hall fire Geddy Lee out of a cannon into a vat of poutine" is Pettit's suggestion — or just to see how hosts Jann Arden and Amazing Race Canada's Jon Montgomery do. Even the choice of host seems economically Canadian. "Instead of paying celebrities to fly in, the Junos saved a couple bucks on local hosts," Pettit explains. "They can split an Uber on the way to the Saddledome."
