Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron, Wild Flag/Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss and Hella/Death Grips drummer Zach Hill each have their own distinct playing style. Those will all be combined, however, in a new all-drum supergroup.
The trio joined forces to record Drumgasm, their debut album, which will be released via Portland imprint Jackpot Records. A pre-order page for the album offers up the following description:
Three people, three drum kits, some microphones and a reel of tape – that's it: pure spontaneity. There's nothing out there that's very comparable to this - maybe the Voodoo drum ritual music of the Drummers of the Societe Absolument Guinin, is all I can think of, though admittedly even that is a pretty far cry.
Drumgasm will be available on August 27, and will consist of two tracks, each of which are approximately 20 minutes long. A trailer for the album is available below, while the album art is available above.
