Yukon Blonde have released an expanded version of their 2020 LP Vindicator via Dine Alone Records.
The 16-track record, which delivers four additional tracks — "Let Your Body Move," "Come Over to Mine," "Birthday" and "Beat the Pressure" — also includes a remix of "Get Precious" by JayWhy, which was previously only available on 7-inch vinyl.
The deluxe version comes as a result of a change of heart from the Vancouver-based band. As guitarist and vocalist Jeffrey Innes explained in a statement, the additional tracks haunted the band members long after the initial release of Vindicator.
"We had a massive batch of trashed songs, but these four won't leave us alone," he said. "We were going to release them as an EP, but in retrospect, we probably should have just included them since all four have become some of our favourite songs to date. So, we're re-releasing Vindicator with four tracks that probably should have been on it, as they were when we finished the record."
Innes elaborated on the previously omitted tracks: "One was too fun, one was too poppy, one was unfinished and the last was... I actually don't know what everyone's beef with it was. All I know is that since we've released the record, these songs keep popping up."
The expanded edition of Vindicator comes nearly a year after the original's initial release back in November 2020. Their fifth studio album took shape in their East Vancouver jam space and marked the first album written, produced and recorded solely by the band.
In support of Vindicator, Yukon Blonde will perform live throughout their home province this fall. The band will hit the stage on October 21 in Nanaimo, October 22 in Victoria, and on October 23 in Vancouver. Tickets are available for purchase here.
