Taylor Swift may have turned heads with her absolutely gigantic album sales, but when it comes to YouTube videos, there's a different pop queen of 2014: Katy Perry. Her Juicy J-featuring "Dark Horse" was the most viewed music video of 2014.
Since being released in February, "Dark Horse" has racked up more than 716 million views (as of press time) with its surreal, futuristically Egypt-themed visuals. That's a hell of a lot more views than the near 588 million Enrique Iglesias earned for the Spanish version of his song "Bailando," which came in second in the annual list of music videos.
Rounding out the top five were two clips from Shakira — 443 million for "Can't Remember to Forget You" and 418 million for "La La La" — and Jason Derulo with 400 million views for "Wiggle." Also in the top 10 were Iggy Azalea, Sia, Taylor Swift, Meghan Trainor and Nicki Minaj.
YouTube's Canada-specific music video list was rather different. Katy Perry was still on top, but the top five instead featured Nicki Minaj, Meghan Trainor, Taylor Swift and the Chainsmokers. The Canadian list doesn't include any homegrown artists.
In case you wondering, YouTube also posted its list of the top non-musical videos, number one of which was, uh, "Mutant Giant Spider Dog," which seems as worthy a victor as any.
