Hamilton, ON-based indie pop rockers Young Rival have announced that they've signed with long-running Canadian imprint Sonic Unyon. The trio have done some touring with their Young Rival EP, and caught our attention with their own videogame back in 2008. Now, they're getting their full-length debut ready for release.
The album is a self-titled affair, and was recorded with Jon Drew (Fucked Up, Tokyo Police Club). Drummer Noah Fralick spoke highly of the recording session, saying, "Jon has a total hands-off approach to recording a band like us. We recorded in a high-ceilinged room with mics scattered throughout. The result is an album that's bigger-sounding than anything we've done before, because it captures the intensity of our live playing. We can't wait for the record to be released so people will hear these new songs."
Sonic Unyon will drop Young Rival on April 13 in Canada, and a month later in the United States. The album's release will be followed by a Canada-wide tour, which is currently being booked. In the meantime, the band have a string of Ontario and Montreal dates lined up, including some shows with the Sadies.
Tour dates:
2/11 Montreal, QC - Il Motore *
2/12 Ottawa, ON - Maveriks *
2/13 Kingston, ON - Grad Club *
3/14 Toronto, ON - Phoenix Concert Theatre ^
* with the Sadies
^ with Born Ruffians
