Young Jeezy Preps The Recession

Atlanta-based rapper and erstwhile coke dealer Young Jeezy has revealed the details for The Recession, his third album. Set for a September 2 release, the record promises guest spots from Akon, Blood Raw, T.I., Kanye West, Slick Pulla, the Game, T-Pain, Young Dro and more, alongside production from DJ Toomp, Eminem, Shawty Redd, Jazze Pha and Drumma Boy. "Put On,” the record’s debut single featuring Kanye delivering some auto-tune vocals, is currently perched at number seven on the Billboard charts.

So far 2008 has been a stellar year for hip-hop sales, with Lil Wayne breaking a sales slump with a massive amount of Tha Carter III buys, and Nas following suit with his controversial Untitled record earlier this month. Jeezy’s previous album, 2006’s The Inspiration, has moved over a million units, so hopes are high that The Recession will bring in some capital.

Jeezy recently likened The Recession to his debut on BET’s 106 & Park, calling it "Thug Motivation on steroids.”
