Tragedy struck You Say Party! We Say Die! head-on this weekend. While performing at Vancouver's Rickshaw Theatre Friday night (April 16), the BC band's drummer, Devon Clifford, collapsed on stage. Clifford was soon rushed to hospital, where he died early Sunday morning (April 18). He was 30 years old.

Clifford, who played in numerous other Vancouver bands over the last decade such as Hard Feelings and Cadeaux, reportedly suffered a brain hemorrhage. Following neurosurgery, he fell into a coma and was put on life support before passing away in hospital.

In a statement from You Say Party! We Say Die!'s label, Paper Bag Records, the imprint wrote, "It is with absolute sadness to report that our dear friend Devon Clifford passed away just hours ago in a Vancouver hospital surrounded by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him."

Last Saturday, You Say Party! We Say Die! wrote on their Twitter, "We are devastated and trying to keep hope. He needs at miracle. Thank you." This was followed by the message, "DEVON CLIFFORD 1979 - 2010 R.I.P."

You Say Party! We Say Die! were wrapping up their North American tour and were to kick off a series of European dates on April 26.

Exclaim! spoke to Clifford and You Say Party! We Say Die! various times over the band's career, most recently for our October 2009 cover story, where the group discussed their most recent album XXXX.
