Wolf Parade's Dante DeCaro Leaves Band

BY Matt BobkinPublished Feb 4, 2019

Ahead of releasing an album this year, Wolf Parade have revealed that Dante DeCaro has left the band.

The Canadian indie rock stalwarts took to Twitter today to announce the departure. In their tweet, they said, "After years of tour he's decided to try a new way of living, offstage. We'll miss him & wish him the best."

The band have also announced that they will not be finding a replacement for DeCaro, and instead continue as a three-piece consisting of founding members Dan Boeckner, Spencer Krug and Arlen Thompson.

Wolf Parade also teased their upcoming fifth album, which we listed as one of our Most Anticipated Canadian Albums of 2019, stating that they're "excited to share new tunes" with the pared-down lineup. In an interview with Exclaim! last year, Krug said that "Wolf Parade will go into the studio this winter and see what happens. The tentative plan is to have an album out by next fall, 2019."

DeCaro joined Wolf Parade in 2005, after the recording but before the release of the band's debut album, Apologies to the Queen Mary. Before he joined Wolf Parade, DeCaro was a member of Victoria-based indie rockers Hot Hot Heat. DeCaro also released a solo EP, Kill Your Boyfriend, in 2016.
