Willa

"Dreamers" (video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 29, 2016

Vancouver-based electro-popster Willa is set to release her debut album Criminals + Dreamers later this spring, but before the full album lands, Exclaim! has got the premiere of the brand new video for "Dreamers."

The upcoming album was recorded with Ryan Guldemond of Mother Mother as producer, and builds on the momentum of previously released single "Stay the Night."

"Dreamers" is a bombastic blast of high-energy synth-pop, and the song has been been paired with a video courtesy of director Nancy Lee. The singer describes the song as an ode to "shedding societal expectations and reminding yourself who you are and who you'd like to be," and the clip cements that sentiment. It finds Willa and a friend staying true to who they are, standing up for themselves, and having a wildly fun night out in spite of douchebag creepers at the club.

"I think the video that Nancy Lee helmed perfectly captures that feeling through visuals," Willa continues. "I'm so damn proud of this video."
