Vivian Girls and Woods Make Babies

With Vivian Girls' highly anticipated sophomore full-length just around the corner, and Woods about to embark on their enormous tour with Dungen, it seems like there shouldn't be too much free time for these Brooklyn-based bands, right? Strange, then, that Vivian Girls front-woman Cassie Ramone has branched out with Woods bassist Kevin Morby to form a new band called the Babies.

The details are still very tentative (they might even change their band name) but the trio (rounded out by Bossy drummer Justin Sullivan) plan to record some songs this month. Those could end up on a full-length or they may get released some other way.

In an interview with Pitchfork, Ramone explained the band's writing process, saying that Morby would be doing most of the work. "In Woods, Jeremy [Earl] writes most of the songs," she said. "And in Vivian Girls, I write most of the songs. So I think it's good for both of us. It's good for Kevin because he's like the main guy, and it's good for me because like, I can take a more backseat approach and just kind of help out."

The band have already played three shows, the most recent of which is viewable below.
