Vår

"The World Fell"

As previously reported, Iceage and Sexdrome offshoot Vår are set to release their debut LP No One Dances Quite Like My Brothers on May 14 through Sacred Bones, but the new wave-inspired duo of Elias Bender Rønnenfelt and Loke Rahbek have unfurled a sneak peek of the set via a stream of the album's "The World Fell."

Beyond its steady drip of icy synth tones, the song homes in on moody baritone vocals and spiraling, barely in-control guitar screeches. You can sample the chilly post-punk number down below.

As for the rest of the LP, a press release notes the recording utilizes everything from "acoustic guitar, power electronics, bass, trumpet, multitracked vocals, and various percussive instruments, to broken glass & sheet metal samples."

It was written and recorded at Cult of Youth member Sean Ragon's self-built studio in the back of his Bushwick, NY record store Heaven Street and draws from themes of "love, loss, vanity, hope, fear, sexuality and friendship."
