Anyone who has been to a Vancouver club in the past couple decades has probably danced to a MY!GAY!HUSBAND! DJ set at some point — but that era is about to end, since he has announced his last-ever performance under the name.
On April 20, M!G!H! will perform at Vancouver's Biltmore Cabaret for the 15th anniversary of his party night and production company Glory Days, which was founded in 2008. This will also mark 20 years of MY!GAY!HUSBAND!'s career as a DJ and events producer.
Although this is the end of MY!GAY!HUSBAND!, the man behind the alias, Jason Sulyma, isn't retiring. He will still be producing events through Glory Days. He'll even do some DJ sets under the name Classic, as part of the new series Classics by Classic. In an email to Exclaim!, Sulyma confirmed that these would be "local low-key non-clubby events with bands."
An announcement from Sulyma notes that, way back in 2007, The A.V. Club named MY!GAY!HUSBAND! one of the worst band names of the year.
Details about MY!GAY!HUSBAND!'s final DJ set can be found in the poster below.
