Update: Mike Patton May Not Be Working with Watchmen Creator After All

As we said, forget that once-great rock/metal act Faith No More has gone the way of the Eagles and reunited for some cheesy cash-grabs. In fact, while you're at it, forget what Billboard says about Faith No More vocalist Mike Patton.

As the publication recently posted (and we reported on), the vocalist/general crazy guy was allegedly working with graphic novelist and Watchmen creator Alan Moore on his latest effort. However, as Pitchfork notes, it's actually only Adam Drucker (aka Doseone) and Andy Broder of Fog who have collaborated on the score for the audiobook. Patton and Jesu front-man Justin Broadrick have only expressed interest in being a part of Moore's new project, a multimedia package tentatively dubbed Unearthing that will be released on Lex Records in early 2010.

Yeah, we know, it's a bummer.

On the plus side, Billboard still reports the Patton and Broadrick are "in the frame to provide key elements of the soundtrack." Lex founder Tom Brown adds: "Mike Patton has a really hectic year because Faith No More has reformed and they are doing the festivals. I know they have both [Patton, Broadrick] been sounded out and they said they are both into it."

By the sounds of this, though, nothing is confirmed. However, what is confirmed is that Patton will be doing a separate Lex project with TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe.
