Update: The Charlatans Drummer Diagnosed with Brain Tumour

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 22, 2010

Last week, we reported that Britpop vets the Charlatans had postponed their tour after drummer Jon Brookes collapsed on stage in Philadelphia due to a reported seizure. Now, it turns out his condition is even more serious than we previously imagined, as he is set to undergo treatment for a brain tumour.

According to a statement from the group, the drummer is currently undergoing treatment in the UK following the diagnosis.

Brookes's bandmates will continue on without him, resuming their previously booked touring schedule in London on September 27. They're due to tour Europe for all of October before heading to Australia in November. According to a statement from the group, they will "arrange for a short term replacement."

The statement also said, "The band and Jon would like to thank all well wishers for their kind messages of support." See the tour dates below.
