Following up a recent cover of 10cc's "I'm Not in Love," new wave-inspired popsmith Twin Shadow has delivered a redo of Bruce Springsteen's classic Born in the U.S.A. track "I'm on Fire."
Filmed in a darkened room, George Lewis Jr.'s latest UNDER THE CVRS instalment finds him standing behind a keyboard with his headphones on. The vocals run subtler than on the Boss's simmering original, and the arpeggio six-string work is scrubbed entirely. On the flipside, we get even murkier synths and a collection of textured beats to support the soul-searchin' song. Though it's not quite a freight train running through the middle of his head, Lewis's cover is assisted by a fire engine's roar.
