Long-running Providence, RI post-rock quartet A Troop of Echoes are getting ready to release their latest LP, The Longest Year on Record, next month. Before it arrives, they've treated Exclaim! to an exclusive taste with a stream of album track "Manifest and Legion."
The song demonstrates everything this band does best, building a hard-hitting track out of guitars, saxophones, drums and bass. Saxophonist (and Toronto resident) Peter Gilli's upfront melodies drive the melodies atop the Dischord-reminiscent rhythm section and squealing guitar work. It's jazz-leaning post-rock that's much more muscular than some of the subgenre's weepier participants.
Listen to "Manifest and Legion" below.
The Longest Year on Record will arrive on May 19.
Tour dates:
05/13 Boston, MA - Out of The Blue Gallery
05/14 Pawtucket, RI - The Met
05/15 Philadelpha, PA - Kung Fu Necktie
05/16 Washington, DC - The Velvet Lounge
05/17 Brooklyn, NY - King's County Saloon
